MARCUS THE MOBILE- "OPEN PRIVACY"

Designed for the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts (RSA)
Addressing issues raised by the RSA, I worked on well-being at work. Through research, I understood open spaces workers fear the over-exposure.
Based on the Japanese concept of privacy, I designed an individual movable mobile composed of panels to be hooked up to a desk. The panels can be shaped creating a private space, ‘hiding’ the users from uncomfortable prying eyes. Made in shoji paper, they can also be used as reminders and be switched endlessly. The transparency of the paper allows the light to go through while protecting from strong light. Finally, the mobile personalizes the space, which creates a warmer atmosphere.
