- This project has been developed with the Ministry of Justice UK and Design against Crime for Victorian cells.

The Pablo chair, named after a famous Latino-American prisoner, is a piece of furniture both combining a desk chair and a lounge chair. Overcrowded cells ( single cells turned into double), the lack of space and mattresses overused to cover the lack of comfort are the main problems prisons are daily facing. Prisoners are also looking for a sense of ownership, therefore misuses furniture to create belonging. Indeed, the piece became unique, it is theirs.

Made from organic materials, Pablo offers two comfortable chairs, one rigid made in bioplastic to suit any studying or eating activities. The second one is soft, made in PVC / nitrile foam, covered in Neoprene, suitable for reading, watching TV... Materials are long-lasting, sustainable, fireproof, waterproof, heatproof. The range of cover colors proposed are chosen for their pacified and energy-draining skills.

Safe, Pablo cannot be used as a weapon because of its organic shape. Slotting into one another, Pablo takes less space, offers a seat to each prisoner, reduce fights and creates a sense of belonging to its user.
